Unfortunately it is impossible to explain the beauty that is Namibia, the harsh Namib Desert, the stark Skeleton Coast, and the lush Caprivi Strip with its incredible variety of fauna and flora that owes it’s existence to the Zambezi and Chobe Rivers. Namibia must be experienced.

IIt is the setting sun that brings life to the Namib Desert, animals come out of hiding and life begins to flourish away from the harsh sun. The muted light of the setting sun, turns the sharp hard angles of the Namib Desert into a dreamscape of colour, reds, pinks, greens and blues. The air seems to still and you can see forever.

One of the most spectacular natural vistas you are ever likely to encounter, is to be found in Namibia, the Fish River Canyon. The canyon is second only to the Grand Canyon in sheer size but the colours and atmosphere are purely African. The canyon can be hiked, but only if you have a current medical certificate. This is due to the extreme temperatures and other hardships the hikers will encounter. The views are spectacular and the area abounds with wildlife, particularly birds. The hike may only be for the few but the views are for all.

Etosha National Park one of the largest in the world, is one of the primary reasons to visit Namibia. Wide-open spaces, the massive sky, the quiet of the bush and the opportunity to see a vast selection of animals including lion, elephant, leopard and rhino are some of the reasons to visit the Etosha National park.

Namibia owes much of its character to the early German settlers and Swakopmund in particular retains its German heritage, most easily seen in the architecture and food. This is the perfect place to relax for a few days unless you would rather have a wild adrenaline rush, then you can go Dune surfing, Ski-diving or ride the dunes on a quad. Spend your evenings recovering from some of the wildest experiences imaginable while you enjoy a few beers with your friends or the locals.

It would be easy to believe that Namibia consists of nothing but desert and arid grassland but in the far north of the country the Caprivi Strip turns believe to a lie. With many rivers and high rainfall, the Caprivi is rich in game with forests, swamps and woodlands. The Caprivi is host to 6 of Namibia’s National Parks.

It is this contrast, which surprise the tourist and make Africa unique.
